The first facial injectable that gives you noticeable results that emerge subtly and can last for two years.
Sculptra® is a biocompatible collagen replacement that offers a subtle, gradual approach in anti-aging treatment. It replaces lost collagen over time to produce a long-lasting, natural-looking appearance. Sculptra is used in men and women to fill in shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that occur with aging.
Sculptra Aesthetic is a facial injectable that works gradually in a series of treatments. A full treatment (on average) requires three injection sessions over a few months. During the procedure, Dr. Stover will inject Sculptra into the deep dermis, where collagen production occurs. Sculptra begins to work under the skin to naturally reinforce the skin's own internal structure over time. This reinforced structure will provide a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness to facial wrinkles and folds. Sculptra is different from other fillers because it is designed to work gradually over time. And, because it works with the skins own collagen structure, the effects can last as long as two years.
When using Sculptra, the best results are achieved with gradual applications repeated over time. This is because Sculptra targets the underlying causes of facial aging and works progressively over time. As with any injection into the skin, there may be some bruising and swelling at the site of injection. Any swelling will usually subside within three days, and bruising will dissipate in about 10 to 14 days. Some patients may feel lumps after the procedure, but those will settle and resolve themselves in about two weeks with gentle massage. They are rarely visible.
Sculptra is a cloudy, thin mixture of poly-L-lactic acid that is mixed with sterilized water before injection. It is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body as it works to replace lost collagen. Poly-L-lactic acid has been used safely for decades in dissolvable stitches and as a facial injectable since 1999 in more than 30 countries.
Sculptra is available in Hawaii through Dr. John D. Stover's Cosmetic Centers of Hawaii. Dr. Stover was the first physician in Hawaii to use Sculptra Aesthetic as a therapy for sunken cheeks (facial lipoatrophy) in HIV patients.
