Perlane

Perlane® is part of the Restylane family of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, the world's best-selling and most-studied dermal filler. Like all HA fillers, Perlane mimics the substance in the skin that gives it its elasticity, lift and volume. Perlane helps smooth away the appearance of severe facial wrinkles and folds by returning HA to targeted areas under the skin. Perlane is different from Restylane in that it contains larger gel particles that are specifically designed for deep facial lines and creases, such as those that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth (nasolabial folds).
The Perlane Procedure
Perlane is a non-surgical treatment for deep or severe facial lines and folds. During the procedure, Dr. Stover will inject Perlane deep under the skin to restore lift and volume to severely sagging areas of the skin. Perlane can be used as the primary supporting, firming layer either as a stand-alone product or in conjunction with other cosmetic fillers like Radiesse® or Sculptra® to provide an extremely natural-feeling, soft upper layer. Dr. Stover will determine the most advantageous course of treatment, depending on the patient's unique facial conditions and desired appearance goals.
The effects of Perlane will be immediately noticeable. There is no recovery time and patients can immediately resume normal activities. As with most injections, patients should expect some swelling and bruising, which will usually subside within 3 to 10 days. Treatment with Perlane generally lasts about six months. For even longer-lasting results, talk to Dr. Stover about an additional treatment at either 4.5 or 9 months. With two treatments, many patients can enjoy corrective results for as long as 18 months.
