Juvederm
Our skin contains a hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid, which bonds to water molecules creating volume and elasticity. But as we age, the amounts of hyaluronic acid in our skin are greatly reduced. The loss of HA can cause our skin to lose its structure and volume, creating unwanted lines and creases. Using a dermal filler like Juv̩derm is a safe and effective way to replace HA and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds.
Juv̩derm is one of the newer hyaluronic fillers (HA) developed for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juv̩derm works by instantly smoothing away wrinkles around the nose and mouth to restore natural looking contours on the face. Unlike other HA fillers, Juv̩derm is approved to last as long as one year with just one treatment1. It can be used to treat the smile lines, marionette lines and vertical lines that occur around the mouth due to ordinary aging and environmental effects2.
The Juv̩derm® Procedure
Therapy with Juv̩derm is a relatively quick procedure that usually requires just one treatment. During the procedure, Dr. Stover will inject Juv̩derm under the skin to restore the skin's natural structure and volume.
Treatment with Juv̩derm is virtually painless. Juv̩derm XC contains lidocain, which numbs the treatment area. However, some bruising and swelling should be expected following the treatment session. Any bruising typically subsides within 3 to 10 days.
