What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is the result of uneven fatty tissue just below the surface of the skin that occurs as collagen breaks down in the body. It is most common in women, and nearly 90% of women will experience some cellulite on their bodies during their lifetimes. It most often appears on the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen.

Cellulite is not a health issue but is unattractive, making people feel self-conscious about the areas where it appears.

Treatments for Cellulite – Thermage

While many treatments for cellulite claim miraculous results, cellulite is difficult to get rid of. At Cosmetic Centers of Hawaii, we have found that Thermage provides the best results for our patients. Thermage has the ability to tighten and firm the skin, smoothing it and reducing the dimpling effects of cellulite. While the procedure may not completely eliminate cellulite, it has been shown to improve the appearance of the condition.

Thermage has been used on the thighs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, and even above the knees. The effects are temporary but sometimes last for years.

What is Thermage?

Thermage is a non-surgical procedure that tightens and contours the skin using deep-heating Capacitive Radiofrequency (CRF) technology. This process stimulates the production of collagen, which then tightens and smoothes the skin. Thermage is the only non-invasive procedure that restores collagen to all three layers of skin.

You will feel a brief heat sensation during your Thermage treatment. It is very safe, but you can expect some redness and swelling for a brief time after your procedure.

Results continue to improve over a period of six months after one treatment. Only one treatment is usually required, and no down time is necessary after Thermage. Another advantage of Thermage is that it works on all skin tones from light to dark. The Thermage procedure also does not make you vulnerable to sunburn like laser procedures.
