Browlifts & Forehead Lifts

Dr. Stover performs brow and forehead lifts to raise eyebrows and reduce ridges and furrows on the forehead, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. This procedure can be performed in conjunction with other surgeries such as facelift, midface lift or eyelift. Dr. Stover will elevate the lateral portion of the brow mostly, to give a more natural appearance, taking care to not elevate the central brow.

Small incisions are made in the hair-bearing scalp leaving no visible scars. Typically, Dr. Stover will use an endoscope to visualize the deeper tissues and avoid visible scars. Careful, precise elevation of the brow is then carried out through the endoscope and the brow is stabilized at just the right position using one of several techniques. Dr. Stover may recommend resorbable Endotine fixation devices (www.coaptsystems.com) or sutures attached to the skull, all placed through the small incisions described above. These state-of-the-art techniques allow for quicker surgery and more rapid and comfortable recovery. The scalp incisions are usually closed with staples. Recovery usually takes one week, discomfort is minimal and many patients resume normal activities after several days. Bruising around the eyes can be covered with make-up after several days. Typically no bandages are placed.

Post-Operative Information

Antibiotics may be prescribed for several days following surgery. Sutures or staples are generally removed within one week. Swelling and some bruising may occur which should subside within a few weeks. Dr. Stover will recommend ice compresses and eye exercises to reduce swelling and regain mobility.
