Restore balance and harmony to the focal point of the face.
The nose is one of the most prominent features of the face and forms the basis from which all other facial features are aligned. If the nose has suffered damage or injury, or is out of proportion, the effect may be an aesthetically unpleasing look which can negatively affect self-confidence.
The characteristics of the nose are determined by genetics, but may be altered either through trauma or a previous surgery. Work on the nose, or rhinoplasty (sometimes called a 'nose job'), can repair a nose that is out of proportion or disfigured in some way. Bumps and depressions can be removed. The shape, size and angle of the nasal tip can be adjusted, including adjustments for nostrils that are too wide or too small. Breathing can be improved through the repair of a deviated septum. The result is an aesthetically pleasing look with improved functionality that positively contributes to the appearance of the facial area.
Rhinoplasty is a procedure that surgically shapes the nose by gently sculpting the bone and cartilage underneath that gives the nose its shape. Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures conducted on both men and women. During the procedure, Dr. Stover will also correct any nasal deformities which may be contributing to breathing interference or causing troubles with the sinus area.
Rhinoplasty is performed under local or general anesthesia, based on the extent of the procedure and after consultation with the doctor. Some patients may decide to have other facial surgeries performed at the same time, such as a chin reshaping. During the last several years, the use of 'scarless rhinoplasty'(or seamless rhinoplasty) has allowed surgeons to place incisions inside the nose, where they are the least visible. This is beneficial to patients with skin that scars easily. However, depending on the results desired, an open procedure may be required. During an open procedure, small incisions will be made across the tissue that separates each nostril.
Surgery on the nose generally takes about 90 minutes to two hours. Some swelling and discoloration will occur in the first few days, but will generally decrease over one to two weeks. Some patients will see immediate benefits; others will have to wait until the tissue of the nose fully heals into its final form and shape. The nose must be protected from injury for 4-6 months following the procedure.
Create beautiful and subtle changes that compliment the rest of your face with nose contour surgery.
