For a small touch-up, a mini facelift may be exactly what you're looking for!
For men and women in their 30s, 40s and 50s who want to treat a single problem area, the mini facelift may be just the answer. A mini facelift offers a less invasive and minimally scarring approach to correcting the first signs of aging around the face and neck.
A mini facelift, sometimes called a "weekend facelift," corrects minor sagging or droopiness of the face and neck. It is used when only minor corrections are needed, or for those who wish to only focus on a specific area of the face. The mini-facelift is more convenient, has less risk of complications, entails less bruising and swelling and costs less than conventional facelifts. Patients enjoy dramatic results with very little downtime from their regular schedules.
Mini facelifts use endoscopic techniques that require fewer, smaller incisions than other cosmetic surgery procedures. The incisions used in mini facelifts are about one-third the length of those used during conventional facelift surgeries. Once the small incisions are made, Dr. Stover will gently remove excess fatty tissue and reshape facial muscles under the skin to restore a more natural, youthful appearance. These procedures are performed under local anesthesia and take about one to two hours to complete. Because the incisions are small, recovery time is shortened, and patients are usually back to work in two to three days. The results are improved facial tone and tightening of the mid- and lower-region of the face.
The best candidates for a mini facelift (sometimes known as a 'short-scar rhytidectomy') are those who wish to work on a few, specific areas with skin that is somewhat supple. Candidates for a mini facelift should not have excessive amounts of sagging skin. Mini facelifts are not appropriate for those with advanced signs of aging, such as deep wrinkles or for areas on the forehead and brow. For those procedures, a conventional facelift surgery will be required. Dr. Stover can discuss the benefits and drawbacks of both types of surgeries during the patient consultation.
